1. Economy Rate
The lowest rate during a specified period for international calls, with the hours varying by destination country.
2. Equal Access
The U.S. regulation allowing long distance customers access to any long distance phone service provider.
3. Equal Access Dialing
The dialing format for accessing a long distance provider other than your regular one. Also called 10-10 service, 10-10-XXX dialing, ten-triple-X dialing, and 10-10 numbers.
4. Error
In telecom networks, any change from the original in transmitted data.
5. Error Correction
A feature of digital communications devices that automatically detects and corrects errors in transmitted information.
6. Evening Rates
Rates charged by phone companies for calls after the end of the business day (usually 5 pm to 11 pm Sunday through Friday). They are priced higher than night and weekend rates but are less costly than daytime rates.
7. Exchange
The first three digits of a standard seven-digit phone number.
